WHAT IS A PROSTHETIC?

Prosthetics are artificial extensions of the body. They are used to replace body parts that are missing from birth, lost through an injury or disease, or which require removal / amputation due to medical reasons

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”

WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU ARE A NEW AMPUTEE?

Initial Evaluation

Together, along with your physician and rehabilitation specialists, we assess your needs and wants in terms of function, cosmesis (looks), and comfort.

Custom Design & Fitting

Your prosthesis or orthosis is designed specifically for you through the use of casts, measurements and working models.

First Fitting & Alignment

We ensure that each component part meet specifications for maximal fit and your comfort. Alignment is carefully adjusted to your individual gait and balance.

Final Fitting

Following a complete check of your prosthesis or orthosis, you are thoroughly instructed in its capabilities, function and use.

Ongoing concern and care

Following the final fitting, you are then carefully monitored to ensure continuing fit for comfort and alignment, as well as for functionality and use as your activity increases.

Hospital Call and Home Visits

If transportation is an issue, we do make hospital calls and home visits for those with transportation problems. However, it may be necessary to charge for these special services.
